Mumbles lifeboat was scrambled at 5pm on Saturday night to the aid of a stag party on the return leg of their stag weekend in Ilfracombe.
The party consisted of 10 men on two high-speed ribs, approximately eight miles off Mumbles Head. One of the boats had suffered engine failure and had been towed for over an hour by the other. With a spring tide and a choppy sea they found it difficult to make headway and were concerned about getting back to Swansea in the dark.
When the all-weather lifeboat arrived, two of the crew of the rib being towed were suffering from mild exposure and were taken on board the lifeboat.
The vessel was taken into Swansea by a fishing boat from Swansea, the Natasha Jane. The stag party from the Midlands continued their night in Swansea after arriving at the marina just after 8pm.
Coxswain for Mumbles lifeboat, Martin Double, said: ‘Luckily they were aware that water and alcohol don’t mix although I got the feeling the groom to be was going to have a stag night to remember.’
