Stair repair firm mobilised by fund

Chris Cook set up his 24/7 mobility service and repair business, Linchris Mobility, with help from the Community Business Support Fund.

Chris is passionate about ensuring that people with disabilities remain as mobile as possible by using his engineering skills to maintain and repair stair lifts and mobility scooters.

His career was placed on hold for 18 years whilst becoming a full time carer for his son and during that time, using his engineering skills, he became a founding member of the Gwent Remap.  This charity specializes in designing, building and adapting disability equipment so that it is customized to the person.

Chris returned to work following the loss of his son and was made redundant shortly afterwards.  This spurred him into starting a business in Caerphilly county borough repairing and maintaining mobility items.

Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning said, “We are delighted to be able to help Chris to start his business.  Local entrepreneurs thinking about starting a business should get in touch with the Economic Development Team to help them turn their ideas into reality.”

Andy Morris, Area Manager, UK Steel Enterprise said, “Chris has a real empathy and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and we are pleased that he was able to use the Community Business Support fund to start his business.”
