Children who are in need of some entertainment during the school holidays still have the opportunity to join in with playschemes before the last sessions on 21st August.
Playschemes are currently running in Abergavenny, Monmouth, Usk, Chepstow, Caldicot and Bulwark.
The schemes give children the chance to take part in activities such as, arts and crafts, bouncy castle, fancy dress, discos and sports.
Richard Simpkins, who helps to coordinate the council run playschemes, said:
“Some of the most popular activities include healthy food preparation sessions, the fruit smoothie bike, NRG fitness sessions, Dragon Sports, and frisbee golf – a game in which individual players throw a disc into a basket or at a target. There are also visits from organisations such as the police, fire brigade and the library service”.
“Many of the schemes attract over 50 children each day but there is still room in every scheme for more kids to join in. “
Playschemes take place in:
- Chepstow, Caldicot, Abergavenny and Monmouth Leisure Centres – £6 per child per day Monday to Friday 9am to 3.30pm.
- Bulwark Community Centre – £3 per child per day Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 3.30pm.
- Usk Memorial Hall – £10 per child per day Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
