Still Time to Enter the Caerphilly 10k

10k2The second annual Caerphilly 10k is fast approaching, with just over a week left to sign up online.

The race, returning on Sunday 22nd June, has proved extremely popular with over 1700 runners from across the UK set to descend on Caerphilly to take on the challenge of running a 10 kilometre loop around the town, set against the magnificent backdrop of the medieval Caerphilly Castle.

In order to give as many people as possible the chance to take part in this iconic race the closing date for entries has now been extended to midnight on Thursday 19th June.

Residents are encouraged to come out and cheer on the runners, whether at the finishing line on Crescent Road or at any number of vantage points along the route. At the finishing line there will also be a Commonwealth Sports Park with a number of activities for families to take part in.

There are numerous road closures on the day which can be seen by visiting the Caerphilly 10k website where a route map can be viewed.

Entrant numbers and personal timing chips will be sent out next week (commencing Monday 16th June), so runners who have already registered should keep an eye on the post for their entry pack.

Any runner who has not received their entry pack by the Friday 20th June, there is no need to panic. Staff will be on hand at the Registration Office from 8am on Sunday 22nd June for collection of entry packs.

This year the Caerphilly 10k will incorporate the Welsh 10km Road Race Championships for 2014. Any runner wishing to enter the Welsh 10k Championships at the Caerphilly 10k will need to enter online before midnight on Saturday 14th June.
