Tins of soup, beans and items of clothing have been donated by staff and students at Glyndŵr University to help Wrexham’s homeless.
The university, which is dedicated to supporting the local community has been rallying around to offer help during Poverty and Homelessness Action Week.
The latest collection follows on from a similar campaign which the university ran at Christmas.
Ruth Holden, from the Glyndŵr University chaplaincy, said:
“We’ve managed to collect four bags of clothes as well as a box of food so far which is great.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their generosity during what are still difficult economic times. All of the donations will be extremely well received and will be sent to the Salvation Army for distribution to those most in need within the Wrexham community.”
The university is collecting items at four locations at:
- The North Wales School of Art and Design shop on Regent Street and on main campus at the library
- Café Darganfod near to Techniquest
- Glyndŵr
- The chaplaincy
Poverty & Homelessness Action Week has been running annually since 2008 and brings together Homelessness Sunday and Poverty Action Sunday.
The Week aims to raise awareness of the issues of poverty and homelessness in the UK and raise funds for projects and campaigns which work to tackle poverty and homelessness.
Glyndŵr University has been collecting for the event for the last two years.
