A group of students from Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus remembered men and women who fought in conflicts of the past and raised over £800 to help those wounded in present day battles on Armistice Day Thursday 11 November.
The combined efforts of second year National Diploma Health and Social Care and Independent Living Skills (ILS) students raised over £800 for Help the Heroes as the group dressed up, sold cakes and held a ‘name the army bear’ competition in aid of the charity.
Health and Social Care Lecturer Penny Jones said: “We held the event to highlight the wonderful work Help for Heroes do for wounded servicemen and women. All students made a fantastic effort and special mentions should go to Sophie Kingston for helping to coordinate the event and Rhiannon Wall for managing to raise £80 for the charity on her own. It was a great success.”
