Students at St John Baptist High School, Aberdare held their annual Holocaust Memorial Assembly last week in a bid to pay their respects to those who lost their lives during one of the darkest periods in modern history.
During the memorial assembly year 12 and 13 students who are studying the Holocaust as part of their A-Level History specification, talked about their experiences during their trip to Krakow and Auschwitz, which they undertook to gain a better understanding of the often unbelievable suffering of millions of Jews.
The assembly also featured various prayers and readings which pay tribute to those who lost their lives.
Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Councillor Simon Lloyd attended the special assembly along with three other special guests – Brian Rogers Esq, Chairperson of RCT SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education), Father Robert Davies, Chairperson of Governors at St John Baptist School and Father Steven Kirk, Vice-Chairperson of Governors at St John Baptist School.
Mayor, Councillor Simon Lloyd, said: “I was pleased to be invited to attend this moving ceremony that pays tribute to the millions that suffered during this horrific period in history.
