Coleg Gwent beauty therapy students raised over £350 for charity Help for Heroes at a recent College open event.
Students at Coleg Gwent’s City of Newport Campus sold cakes, nail art and organised a raffle in support of the charity and their classmate Chailey O’Brien, whose husband was on a tour of duty in Afghanistan during the event.
“It was great to be able to do something positive to support the forces while my husband was away,” said Chailey, 20, from Newport. “Thank you to everyone who donated to our events and raised money for such a good cause.”
Diana McCrea, County Coordinator for Help for Heroes in Monmouthshire, accepted a cheque for £352.10 on behalf of the charity and shared her own experiences of family in the forces. She said: “It’s fantastic to see the tremendous fundraising effort made by Coleg Gwent students, and we’re very grateful for their support.”
