Swansea University has been voted the Overall Best University in the UK in the main award category of the prestigious WhatUni.com Student Choice Awards 2014.
Also nominated for three other categories in the awards, Swansea University was voted second in the UK in both the Course and Lecturers and Student Union categories, and third in the Clubs and Societies category.
Professor Alan Speight, Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor, said:
“We are absolutely delighted that UK students have voted Swansea University to be the Best University in the UK. Students are at the centre of everything we do. Swansea University is committed to providing an excellent student experience and to have been recognised by so many students in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards in these major categories is a major reflection of our devotion to the excellence of the learning experience and supportive environment which we provide to our students.”
“The WhatUni.com award demonstrated that the improvements in overall student satisfaction we have been making over the past few years in collaboration with our students and the Students’ Union have delivered real and tangible benefits for our students in their experience whilst studying at Swansea.
“We have achieved this excellent accolade of Best University by listening to and working in partnership with our students, who play a key role in our design and delivery of continued improvement, and so we are delighted that Swansea University has been be rated so highly in these awards.”
Earlier this week the newly published Complete University Guide 2015 showed that Swansea University is in the top 20 places in the UK for a wide range of subjects, from engineering and medical technology to social work, putting it among the UK’s leading Universities.
In the 2015 Guide, Swansea moved up the overall rankings from 48th to 42nd out of the 127 UK universities listed. The Complete University Guide is an independent guide, which analyses universities across the UK, looking at areas such as graduate prospects, student satisfaction and spend per student.
Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor, said:
“I am really encouraged by these fantastic results which follow on from our successes in various high profile league tables like the QS Stars global university ratings system which awarded Swansea University the top 5 star rating for Internationalisation, Teaching, Facilities and Engagement, and the University has continued to move upward into the top 20 UK Universities for employability – one of the most important and relevant good student outcomes.”
“These awards are a recognisable measure of our performance and reputation. They show that as an ambitious, research-led institution with top quality teaching, Swansea is an excellent place to study for UK, EU and international students.”
