Council Leader Ali Thomas took time out to read a story to toddlers in Neath Port Talbot and support National Book Start Day at NPT libraries. Bookstart is an initiative that encourages all parents and carers to enjoy books with their children from an early age as possible.
It aims to provide a free pack of books to every baby in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading and most of all to show that books are fun.
NPT Council Leader said “Bookstart is an invaluable way of bringing families together through reading and storytelling. It is beneficial to both child and parent developing reading skills whilst putting aside some dedicated family time.”
This year’s theme “At the Beach” had specially commissioned illustrated story sheets. The series of events at Neath Port Talbot libraries were enormous fun and enjoyed by all the community. Bookstart Bear also put in an appearance and joined in the activities much to the delight of the excited children.
