As part of the regeneration of the county’s town centres, Flintshire County Council has put together a free comprehensive ‘Trader Support Package’ to provide small independent retail businesses with practical advice and support.
Following on from the success of a similar programme last year, Retail Consultant Paul Ford, of Retail Workshop, has now been appointed by the Council to work with local businesses. Paul, a successful and former retailer himself, has previously worked very well on similar schemes with traders in numerous towns across the UK.
Paul will be offering independent businesses the opportunity to participate in a free confidential on site business review, followed by a free ‘Retail Roadshow’ in town centres, which will highlight practical ideas and actions to help improve sales, reduce costs and develop profitability.
Paul is currently visiting businesses in the town centres to introduce himself and give more details about the package and the potential support and funding available to businesses.
Phil Jones from Bistre Farm Shop in Buckley said ‘’I took part in the free retail support programme offered by the County Council last year. It looked at our business from the customer viewpoint and highlighted, but in a positive way, some changes we needed to make, I would recommend any independent retailer to participate in the similar scheme now being offered.’’
Letters detailing the scheme have recently been sent out to independent traders in the town centres, and will be followed up by visits from Paul , but any independent trader who is interested in participating can contact him now, to arrange their free retail review, on 01926 431522 or by email on [email protected].
Flintshire County Council’s executive member for Environment, Councillor Tony Sharps, said: “We encourage local businesses to take part in this initiative which aims to help them promote their business to the maximum.”
