A project set up to help people overcome barriers, access training and gain employment has been launched in Denbighshire.
The Genesis project has been set up to help individuals to plot a brighter future. Support Workers will help to raise individual’s confidence, self esteem and realise their aspirations to enable them to access opportunities and overcome barriers to training or work.
Dawn Williams, Anna Roberts and Isobel Neudorfer have taken up their posts as Genesis Support Workers, covering the whole of Denbighshire.
Dawn supports North Denbighshire and has a wealth of experience from her work with children and families over the last 20 years. She previously worked for Flintshire Children’s Services and will support individuals at locations throughout Rhyl, Prestatyn, Meliden and Bodelwyddan.
Anna supports South Denbighshire and has previous experience of supporting individuals with a range of issues including drug and alcohol dependency and homelessness. Anna has also supported young people through hostel provision. She will support people in the Corwen, Llangollen and Ruthin areas and will be available in various locations across the South area.
Isobel supports Central Denbighshire and has previously worked for a range of Council Departments including Children & Young People Services, Youth Services and worked to support individuals in Higher Education. She will be based at the Margaret Morris Centre in Denbigh and will support people from north of Ruthin, Denbigh and St Asaph areas.
They will provide one to one help and support for participants to identify their individual needs and there is also financial support if people are struggling with transport and childcare costs which prevent them from attending training or employment.
Participants can refer themselves or can be referred by other agencies, including Job Centre Plus, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Careers Wales and voluntary organisations. You may be eligible for Genesis support if you are over the age of 16, a parent, out of work, claiming benefit or disability allowance, and live in Denbighshire.
