Five suspected drug dealers who had travelled to Swansea from London on Friday were arrested on Saturday thanks to information received from an eagle eyed member of the public.
At approximately 12:30pm that day, police officers on duty in the city centre were provided with descriptions of several men who appeared to be dealing drugs in the area.
The first arrest took place a short time later following a person search which resulted in the recovery of what appeared to be 40 individual wraps of heroin tucked neatly beneath his belt.
And the arrest of his associates was to follow later that evening after a search of a Swansea hotel room resulted in the recovery of what is believed to be Heroin and Crack Cocaine with an estimated street value of £100k.
Three of these men namely: Scott Walters, 24, Joel Vaughan 22 and Michael Chapman,25 have been charged with possession with intent to supply. Michael Chapman was also wanted for an outstanding warrant. All are remanded in custody.
Two others have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Acting Detective Inspector David Butt said:
“South Wales Police is committed to tackling those who deal drugs and make money by causing misery in our communities. The message from us and the people of Swansea is clear, if you are intent on dealing drugs here, then we with the help of the pubic will do everything that we can to put you before the courts.”
