Regional AM Suzy Davies has asked the Housing Minister if the new Housing Bill will still insist that developers apply for planning permission instead of just Certificates of Lawful Development.
Mrs Davies, the Conservative AM for South Wales West, said:
“On a controversial case in Swansea, the council’s planning department directed those in breach of planning law to seek a Certificate of Lawful Development instead of retrospective planning permission.
“These certificates are not intended to provide cheap shortcuts for those who ignore the law.”
Mrs Davies added:
“I am pleased that the Minister confirmed that the Welsh Government wants to make sure there is fairness throughout Wales and that all councils interpret the law fairly.
“It is a shame that we are not there yet however. At present we have one law for some and another for others.”
