Commenting on the decision of Fastnet Line to suspend ferry crossings from Swansea to Cork until April 2012, Byron Davies AM, Shadow Minister for Transport and Regeneration, said:
“This is a massive blow to trade links between Wales and its nearest foreign trading partner.
“The temporary loss of this service is likely to negatively impact on tourism into South West Wales and will concern small tourism operators, especially as we approach the spring.
“We hope that in due course the Swansea-Cork ferry route will be re-established to secure the long-term future of this vital economic link between Wales and Ireland.”
