A father and son from Swansea had to be rescued by the volunteers of the Mumbles RNLI .
At quarter past 3 on Sunday afternoon the crew were called to the aid of a 24 ft fishing cruiser who’s engine had failed off three cliffs bay on the Gower.
A Lifeboat crewmember was put on board the stricken vessel while it was towed back to the safety of Swansea Marina.
This was part of the busiest day for the station so far as only a few minutes later the inshore lifeboat was launched to aid 2 people cut off on the outer island at Mumbles Lighthouse.
Then at 730pm the inshore lifeboat was launched to speedboat with engine trouble in the mouth of Swansea river. The boat with 2 people on board was towed back to Knab rock at Mumbles.
Volunteer Crew member James Bolter who was present on all 3 calls said ‘we’ve just spent yesterday raising essential funds to keep the lifeboat going to sea for just these kind of occasions, it’s a difficult time for all charities at the moment but fortunately the RNLI is independent, voluntary and still able to offer a world class service’.
