Swansea public toilets get an upgrade

A number of public loos in Swansea are in line for upgrading.

Swansea Council has approved £50,000 worth of improvements to three public conveniences in Clydach, Oystermouth and Blackpill.

Improvement works will include painting, door and window replacement and external work to drainage.

The work is being completed as part of the Council’s capital maintenance programme and will be carried out immediately.

Cllr John Hague, Cabinet Member for the Environment in Swansea Council, said: “Public toilets are a service which the public judge us on. It’s vital we provide facilities that meet the expectations of residents and visitors.

“Sadly, some of our facilities fall victim to incidents of vandalism which costs this Council and tax payers a lot of money when things need to be put right.”

The Council operates 19 public conveniences in total and includes three in the city centre, five in the wider community and 11 in the city’s beach resorts.
