Swansea RNLI lifeguards respond to major incident at Bracelet Bay

Swansea RNLI lifeguards reported to a major incident on Sunday evening as they received a report of an unconscious elderly woman on Bracelet Bay. The lifeguards were alerted by the Coastguard to a possible casualty within the area at approximately 5:40pm.

RNLI lifeguards located the elderly woman west of Bracelet Bay. As the lifeguards arrived she was unconscious, not breathing and did not have a pulse. The charity’s lifeguards immediately gave the woman oxygen and started performing full CPR with defibrillator to try and establish a pulse on the casualty.

A local First Responder turned up to help as the charity’s lifeguards performed a fourth cycle of CPR on the woman until the air ambulance team arrived. As the paramedics administrated adrenalin to help establish a pulse, RNLI lifeguards worked with the other emergency services by continuing to provide CPR.

RAF Rescue 169 helicopter arrived on the scene and the elderly woman was taken to Morriston hospital. As a result to the RNLI lifeguards and First Responders efforts, the elderly woman had a pulse as she was taken by the rescue helicopter to hospital.
