Swansea based housing association Coastal Housing Group has been recognised for its development and partnership work at a regional building awards ceremony recently held in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Coastal Housing picked up a number of awards at the 2014 LABC Cymru South Wales Building Excellence Awards winning the Best Social Housing Development, in conjunction with Hale Construction, for their Terrace Inn development in Swansea and the Best Partnership award for their work with the City and County of Swansea’s Building Control Team.
Their Customs House development in Port Talbot also came highly commended in the Best Social Housing Development category.
Steve Griffiths, Coastal Housing Group’s Head of Development, said, “We are delighted to have been recognised for our work on both the Terrace Inn and Customs House schemes. The awards reflect our commitment to building quality mixed-used developments which satisfy both social housing and commercial needs.
“It is also pleasing that our partnership working with Swansea Council’s Building Control team was acknowledged with a close working relationship key to ensuring a quality build.”
Terrace Inn consists of 30 flats and 4 two-bedroom bungalows for the over 55s whilst Customs House comprises 46 apartments for social rent with 9 apartments specially adapted for wheelchair users.
All winners from the South Wales Building Excellence Awards will now be judged against the winners from North Wales to determine the all-Wales winners. If successful they will then be entered into the national LABC UK Awards which will be held in London later this year.
