After winning both the local and regional tournaments, it was no surprise that Swansea College’s Supported Studies football team cruised to the Welsh Schools football finals at Newtown.
In a really strong competition, it came down to the final game where the students played against St Christopher’s School, Wrexham.
The Swansea College team put in an excellent fighting performance but were unlucky to lose 3-1.
“We did really well to hold our own against St Christopher’s, who play in the English Premier League and even have some players in the Everton Academy,” says proud lecturer Tom Snelgrove. “Our students were a credit to themselves and Swansea College, demonstrating excellent behaviour and great sportsmanship.”
The competing students [pictured] were Nathan Redgrave, Michael Roberts, Michael Whiteman, Andrew Morris, Martin O ‘Reilly, Ritchie Chippendale, Nathan Whitbread and Daniel Madden.
