Swansea Council’s gritting and recycling teams are out and about in the city today, preparing the way for the festive season.
A dozen teams, six JCBs, two reactive gritters and an overnight run gritting Swansea’s gritting network has helped keep residents on the move.
And the refuse and recycling teams are out and about today as well collecting recycling and refuse from households who would normally have their items collected on Thursdays. Collections are taking place where its safe to do so, given the icy conditions. Residents who would normally have their refuse and recycling collected on a Friday should put their items out on Tuesday, December 28.
The Highways’ team’s JCBs are continuing the work they’ve been doing in the past few days clearing side streets of ice and snow and three of the teams out at work on Christmas Eve have been replenishing some of the 400 grit bins scattered around the city.
Drivers and pedestrians are still being urged to take care on the roads, especially in untreated areas.
