Three people from Denbigh have been honoured for their outstanding contribution to Welsh Swimming.
Emily Noden EAD (Under 16), Andrew Roberts Volunteer Swimming Coach, Bethan Roberts Female EAD (Over 16) were all winners at the Wales Recognition Awards.
At the awards, held on Friday 12 November in the Marriott Hotel Swansea, Denbigh coach Andrew Roberts was named Volunteer Coach of the Year. Andrew was praised by Swim Wales President Norma Rowles for his dedication and commitment to swimming coaching in general and to Denbigh swimming club in particular.
Andrew spends many hours every week coaching youngsters in the water, devising training programmes and updating his own qualifications. Meanwhile Andrew’s daughter Bethan (age 15) was named Female Disability Swimmer of the Year and Emily Noden (age 14) was named Junior Female Disability Swimmer of the Year. Both girls are members of Denbigh Swimming club and clock up hours of water time every week, often swimming up to 6000 metres in a two hour session.
A spokesman from Denbigh Swimming Club commented: “We are immensely proud of what Andrew, Bethan and Emily have achieved – well done to all of them!”
