Swimathon 2011 in Flintshire

The organisers of Flintshire’s Swimathon 2011 would like to thank all those swimmers who helped raise almost £4000 in this year’s sponsored swim.

Swimathon 2011 takes place nationwide and 34 adults and children took part in the Flintshire event at the Mold Leisure Centre. This year’s charity is Marie Curie Cancer Research.

Each swimmer had up to two hours to complete their swim and could choose from a selection of distances – the individual challenges were 1.5k, 2.5k or the ultimate 5k. Groups could take part in the Team 5k challenge.

Wes Billings, organiser of the Flintshire Swimathon, said:

“We’d just like to say a big thank you to all the swimmers of all ages who came along and raised money for a very worthwhile charity.

“We’ve received the final total this week, and swimmers at this year’s Mold event raised £3,816.50, which is a great achievement.”
