A triathlon for novices organised by staff at Fishguard Leisure Centre recently proved a great success
On the day there were 66 individual competitors and four teams who undertook a 400 metre swim in the leisure centre pool; a 12.5 mile cycle ride out to Goodwick and Manorowen and a three mile run.
The overall open winner was Scott Patrick completing the course in 1 hour 2 minutes and 23 seconds.
Other category winners were:
- Male novice – Ryan Thomas who completed the course in 1 hour 12 minutes and 45 seconds).
- Female novice – Katherine Devonald (01:23:02).
- Male veteran – Alec Williams (01:13:09).
- Female veteran – Elin Jones (01:25:50).
- Male super-veteran – Malcolm Clash (01:14:16).
- Female super-veteran – Helen Walker (01:28:43).
- Overall mixed team – Rob Williams and Frederike Schmidt (01:12:20).
- Female team – ‘The Spinners’ comprising Celia Morris and Joan Lilley (01:21:13).
The organisers owe a big thank you to everyone who volunteered to help on the day and to all local companies who donated various goods and prizes for the event
Preparations are already underway for next year’s event.
