Caerphilly County Borough Council are going the extra mile in tackling environmental issues by revealing recycling facilities at a new sports facility in Ystrad Mynach.
A range of drop off recycling facilities are now available at the Caerphilly County Borough Centre for Sporting Excellence, the training home of the Newport Gwent Dragons.
The new recycling bins have been set up in and around the complex, thanks to funding from WRAP Cymru, a not-for-profit company funded by the Welsh Government, which works with businesses and individuals to help them reap the benefits of reducing waste, develop sustainable products and use resources in an efficient way.
Cllr Dave Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, commented, “The council is committed to keeping Caerphilly county borough a cleaner, greener place for people who live, work and visit here. This installation will just make it even easier for our residents to recycle a wide range of materials on the go, helping them to do their bit for the environment.”
WRAP Cymru Recycle on the Go Project Manager, Ruth Partridge, said, “If Wales is to reach its target of recycling 70 per cent of its waste by 2025, we can’t just recycle when we’re at home. It’s essential that we recycle when we’re out and about – including when we’re keeping fit.”
“Thanks to these new facilities people can just do that, and I urge the centre’s users to make the most of them, whether they’re Dragons’ professionals or community users having fun.”
Materials accepted at the new recycling bins include paper, plastic, drinks cans and glass.
