TAITH, the North Wales Integrated Transport Consortia, is pleased to announce that the TAITH Sustainable Travel Grant Scheme is now open for 2012 -13.
The scheme will be open to organisations within the TAITH region (which covers the six local authorities of North Wales), who are looking to develop their workplace travel plans and sustainable initiatives. The grant scheme has been developed after organisations previously highlighted a lack of funding in this area as a stumbling block to developing such schemes in the workplace.
TAITH has set aside £50,000 from this year’s regional transport capital programme to support sustainable travel initiatives and the scheme will be overseen by TAITH officers.
The maximum grant available of up to £10k must be used to support sustainable transport initiatives and the implementation of a travel plan. The scope of the grant application process is flexible so that tailored solutions can be supported, including proposals to enhance existing services, or the provision of new additional services.
The Regional Travel Plan Co-ordinator for Taith, Jessica Pritchard, is available to offer help and guidance to businesses and organisations and can provide free travel planning advice, support and resources to any organisation.
Iwan Prys-Jones, Interim Taith Executive Officer, said:
“TAITH is pleased to be able to introduce this new initiative aimed at providing support to business and organisations wanting to support their employees travelling more sustainably to work.
“With ever increasing transport costs, the fund will allow companies the opportunity to develop facilities for alternative provision in support of their travel plans.”
The closing date for the completed application form is 27 July 2012.
