MUSIC lovers in South Wales are in for a real treat tomorrow night when Whistling Biscuits play the Globe in Cardiff as part of the Ruby Tuesday season.
They’ve told us at Welsh Icons: “our last gig was a completely new song set, this time it’s a mix of their older and newer tracks”.
Whistling Biscuits are Owen Bowley, David Morris, Tom Jackson, Andy Davies, Rhys Owen, and Steve Powell.
The largely acoustic Cardiff six-piece are firm friends and say they are music lovers making the music they love – a heady brew of blues, country, jazz, rock, reggae, folk, soul, and more.
Formed in February 2007, through their shared love of genre spanning music and refusing to categorise themselves, Whistling Biscuit embarked on a mission to write and play whatever they felt like. Seven months of relentless jamming, writing, and rehearsing, later they took to the stages of Wales and have since built a mighty fine live reputation.
The ‘Biscuits’ highlights so far have been recording first e.p Stealing Strangers; a second gig at the Coal Exchange’s closing party; headlining the Twisted Melon stage at Workhouse festival – power cut included; playing The Globe’s New Year party and SAFE foundation’s barn dances, and supporting Gomez’s Ben Ottewell.
Support tomorrow night comes in the shape of Quintamity. An acoustic solo set from Matthew Carr of Spader opens the night. Entry is just £3 and bar prices, say The Globe, are reasonable.
