Talacre’s first festival hailed as a success

Flintshire’s Coastal Rangers and Community First officers are celebrating the success of Talacre’s first Beach Festival, which was visited by around 700 holidaymakers and locals.

Visitors enjoyed face painting, chainsaw sculpting, pony and trap rides, hovercraft and RNLI demonstrations, all held in and around Talacre Beach and its adjacent sand dune system.

Chain Sculptor Ian Murray turned locally grown oak from the Mostyn Estate into a cheeky looking bear and a baby seal, which will become a secret attraction in the dunes.

The RSPB held guided bird walks and Keep Wales Tidy showed visitors how marine litter can be a problem.

The Fire Service Hovercraft team demonstrated their use with a real live rescue from soft mud and the RNLI showed off their equipment and skills.

“The Coastal Unit and Communities First would like to thank all those who helped raise money which will go towards the RNLI.” said organiser and Coastal Ranger Alistair Hemphill.
