The Denbighshire County Brass Band has organised an evening of brass band music at Denbigh Town Hall on Friday, 17th August 2012 starting at 7pm. Music will be played by the Denbighshire County Brass Band and the Denbighshire Training Band with a special guest appearance from Tubalaté, the internationally renowned euphonium ensemble.
The evening will be a celebration of musical talent of the young people of Denbighshire and the locality brought to you by John Powell, musical director and leader of the Denbighshire County Brass Band and member of the renowned Tubalaté tuba euphonium ensemble. The band members will be attending a one week summer school organised by John and Heather Powell and receiving master class sessions by members of Tubalaté prior to the concert.
Denbighire County Brass Band
The Denbighshire County Brass Band and Training Bands are based at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Ruthin. They comprise of young brass players from across Denbighshire who are brought together under the leadership of John and Heather Powell and supported by Denbighshire County Council and the William Mathias Music Service.
The Denbighshire County Brass band has performed at several venues this past year including Bangor University, Liverpool and St Asaph Cathedral, most recently playing in front of Prince Charles at the recent city naming ceremony at St Asaph Cathedral.
Tubalaté
Tubalaté celebrates its 20th anniversary this year as one of the country’s leading professional brass ensembles. Being the first ever tuba-euphonium ensemble to graduate and be awarded the prestigious Professional Performance Diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music, Tubalaté have been at the fore-front of instrumental and repertory development.
Tubalaté travel worldwide, playing to audiences in Russia, Latvia and the United States, as well as throughout Europe. The ensemble has also performed at many of this country’s leading venues, including the South Bank, the Barbican, the Waterfront Hall (Belfast), the Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall and made several appearances on radio and television. In 1998 Tubalaté received a Royal accolade performing at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles’s 50th birthday celebrations, hosted by the Queen.
