A series of road closures will take place in the centre of Tenby later this month.
The closures, which will affect High Street, are part of the pre contract works which need to be carried out before work starts on the Tudor Square enhancement programme.
The Pembrokeshire County Council scheme involves the construction -using high quality materials – of a new layout of the carriageway and footway within the Square.
Although phase 1 of the enhancement works is due to start in January next year, the pre-contract works are programmed to be carried out before Christmas.
They include the installation and upgrading of existing drainage, Welsh Water, BT and Western Power apparatus in High Street and also Tudor Square.
It will be necessary for part of the works to be carried out under a series of three four-day road closures starting on 10th November, 17th November and 24th November 2009.
The road closures are necessary because the road in the region of the former Woolworth’s store is too narrow to excavate half the carriageway and still maintain single-way traffic.
Temporary traffic light control will be provided on Crackwell Street to enable two way access to the Harbour area for vehicles not exceeding seven tonnes.
Vehicles over seven tones will be diverted via South Parade, Belmont Arch, Lower Frog Street and St George’s Street.
