Youngsters at a Haverfordwest primary school have played a key role in the design of a new play guide.
Children attending Prendergast Community School’s after school club ‘The Funhouse’ have designed the logo for Play Times.
Play Times is the regional newsletter for staff, who work with children and young people in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Part of the Child’s Play Project, it is funded by the Big Lottery.
The regular guide, which published its first issue this summer, aims to make staff aware of what is going on in the field of play across the region.
“Although this new newsletter is aimed at adults working with children its good to see that youngsters themselves have had, and will have, an input into the publication,” said Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.
“Not only have the talented youngsters at Prendergast created a colourful masthead, they also designed the logo and came up with the name Play Times.”
The Funhouse Club meets after school every school day from 3.10pm to 5.45pm. It recently received an “excellent” report following an unannounced inspection by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales last month.
Children can also attend a breakfast club at the school from 8am – 8.45am.
