The High Sheriff of Gwynedd visit Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Station

Porthdinllaen all-weather lifeboat, the Hetty Rampton, was launched on service yesterday afternoon at around 4pm after reports of a boat with engine problems on the Lleyn Peninsula coast.

The boat was located 6 miles north east of Porthdinllaen. The volunteer lifeboat crew assisted the persons on board to fix the boat so that she could travel safely ashore.

Later that afternoon a special guest joined the volunteer lifeboat crew on the all-weather lifeboat for an arranged training exercise. Eifion Evans, the High Sheriff of Gwynedd joined the crew to learn more about the charity that saves lives at sea. This is the second time a High Sheriff of Gwynedd has joined the Porthdinllaen lifeboat crew on a training exercise.

Mike Davies, the Coxswain at Porthdinllaen said:

‘It was a pleasure to take The High Sheriff of Gwynedd, Eifion Evans, out with the crew on the all-weather lifeboat. I think he enjoyed himself on the lifeboat, and it was a great way for him to learn more about the work of the RNLI.’
