TV celebrity Jessica Wright is spearheading the search for a new star in North Wales.
Tabloid favourite Jessica, who shot to fame on the popular reality show The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), will be on the judging panel for an exciting new talent show.
Auditions for The Only Way is Wrexham will get underway at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhos, near Wrexham, at noon on Sunday, April 6.
Contestants who are unable to attend in person can up-load audition tapes to the theatre’s Facebook page.
The competition is open to performers of any age or experience.
The Only Way Is Wrexham is being produced by Lee Kelly, of Liverpool-based LHK Productions, who has worked with some of the biggest names in showbiz, including Kylie Minogue, Boy George, Claire Sweeney Atomic Kitten,
According to Lee, he is looking for the next big star to come out of the North Wales region.
He said: “We are looking for comedians, singers, dancers, speciality acts, it doesn’t matter, we just want people who believe they have a talent to get on the Stiwt stage and show the world just how good they are.
“We are always on the look-out for new, exciting talent. LHK Productions is again taking pantomime to the Middle East this year with two shows in the Lebanon and one in Dubai.
“I would love to unearth a new real talent to include in the cast. That really would be amazing.”
He added: “I’m delighted TOWIE’s Jess Wright has agree to come along to lead the judging panel for what we hope will be an truly amazing talent show.
“Jess is herself an amazingly talented performer and singer and it will be good to show her just how much North Wales has to offer!”
For her part, Jess is thrilled to be able to take a break from filming the hit ITV2 show so she can head for North Wales.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to going to North Wales and helping judge the Only Way Is Wrexham Talent Contest.
“Wales is of course famous for its many singers and I can’t wait to hear the very best new voices taking part in this show.
“However, it isn’t all about singing, as judges we want to see amazing dancers, really funny and creative comedians, speciality acts, magicians or entertainers with any other talent. So long as it’s fresh and something new, we want to see it.”
She added; “I want to come to North Wales and see the very best talent the region has to offer. If you are going to prove the Only Way is Wrexham then you need to get up on that stage and give it a go!”
Lee Kelly says, following the auditions there will be two heats before the Grand Final on Saturday, July 12.
He said: “We want to see acts, whether solo performers, dance troupes or groups audition or submit audition tapes through our Facebook page. Successful acts with then be selected for the heats.
“These will take place on stage at Theatr Stiwt on Saturday, May 17 and Saturday, June 6.
“You never know where winning, or just doing well, in talent shows such as The Only Way Is Wrexham can lead. This could be the first step on the road to stardom. You’ll never know if you don’t enter so give it a go!”
