The Ryder Cup 2010 on the BBC

BBC Radio 5 Live has extensive coverage and live commentary of the 38th Ryder Cup from Celtic Manor, Wales, from Friday 1 October, plus nightly highlights on BBC Two.

John Inverdale hosts 5 Live’s coverage from Newport across the three days, with live commentary from 9am until close of play on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October and from 11am on Sunday 3 October.

Nicky Campbell also hosts 5 Live Breakfast from Celtic Manor from 6am on Friday and Saturday morning with all the build-up and action from the early matches.

Commentary comes from 5 Live golf correspondent Iain Carter, Andrew Cotter, John Murray, Clare Balding, Alistair Bruce-Ball and roving reporter, Radio 2 Breakfast host and self proclaimed golf-fanatic Chris Evans. Expert analysis is provided by three time Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, former Ryder Cup players Andrew Coltart and Oliver Wilson, American PGA Tour player Andrew Magee and Maureen Madill.

European Captain Colin Montgomerie looks back on his illustrious Ryder Cup career in an interview with Iain Carter for a 5 Live Sport: Ryder Cup Special on Monday 27 September at 10pm.

On Thursday 30 September, on the eve of the Ryder Cup, Gabby Logan broadcasts (12noon-2pm) live from Celtic Manor with all the build up to the event, whilst Clare Balding hosts a special 5 Live Sport Ryder Cup Preview from 7pm that night.

BBC Two also has nightly primetime evening highlights presented by Hazel Irvine, featuring the best of the action from all three days of play (1–3 Oct), from Celtic Manor.

Peter Alliss and Ken Brown, with 13 Ryder Cup appearances between them, head up the commentary with expert analysis coming from the winning captain of the 2002 European team Sam Torrance. Shane O’Donoghue will be on reporting duties.

The highlights programmes will also be simulcast online at bbc.co.uk/sport and available to watch again for seven days on the BBC iPlayer.
