Out of the thousands of photographs that have passed over this desk in the past 12 months I have selected a few that sum up the year for me. This is my personal choice and if it appears a little Cardiff-centric, that is because Cardiff has been where I have spent the majority of my time when in Wales this year. They may not be the best, but to me they sum up my year as picture editor at Welsh Icons.
January
Welsh Icons relocated somewhere to the West of Cardiff
February
Snow took everybody by suprise
March
The St David’s Day parade in Cardiff
April
Sicknote performing at the Globe. The usual mayhem happened and I believe they have now been banned from the venue.
May
Jeremy Vine interviews landlady Liz of the Vulcan. The pub, threatened with closure gained a reprieve.
June
Some of the Ottley monkeys at the Welsh Beer and Cider Festival
July
Barry Scout and Guide Fete. Even the appalling weather didn’t stop these youngsters.
August
For once the sun shone and Cardiff Mardi Gras was a great success
September
Cosmo launches his new single.
October
Maori nation honoured at the Senedd.
November
Boyd Clack performing at Celt Fest on the day of the Wales v New Zealand game
December
Newport band Town support the Buzzcocks at the Venue in Central Cardiff. Certainly a band to watch in 2010.
