Theft of animals from Bontnewydd: Appeal

An appeal for witnesses and information is being made after several animals were stolen from a tourist attraction near Caernarfon.

Sometime between 6pm on Sunday 20th and 11am on Monday 21st September an offender(s) has entered the Gypsy Wood site in Bontnewydd and stolen a number of animals from pens.

Two large rabbits, seven small rabbits, two ferrets and three guinea pigs were stolen and police are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding their whereabouts to contact officers.

PC Kevin Palfreyman said: “A large number of animals have been stolen which is quite unusual. It appears the offender or offenders have been able to enter the pens and taken the animals from within them.

“Animals require specialist care, which is something the offender or offenders may not know how to do properly. It would be better all round for the animals to be re-united with their rightful owners who will be able to care for them in the right way.

He added: “I am appealing to members of the public who may know of the animals’ whereabouts, or to anybody who may have information regarding the theft to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact PC 2425 Kevin Palfreyman at Caernarfon Police Station on 101, if calling from Wales, or 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) 0845 607 1002 (English line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
