A man has been arrested following a drugs raid on a home in Maesteg.
Officers from Maesteg executed a drugs warrant at a home on Llywgarth Road, Maesteg. They found cash along with a quantity of class A, B and C drugs.
The man was arrested for possession with intent to supply and was bailed until 18th September.
Detective Sergeant Julian Kerslake said: “The use and supply of controlled drugs will not be tolerated in Maesteg and we will work with the communities to ensure that those people who use the area to commit drug related offending will be dealt with robustly. We understand the corrosive effect that drug abuse and associated criminality has on our communities, and we are committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved”.
He added: “We are working to eradicate drug dealing in Maesteg and this will not be the last warrant executed. It is vital that residents report drug dealing or other offences to us, as this information helps us to monitor what is happening in their neighbourhood”.
In a connected search at Bridgend Road, Maesteg officers found property that had previously been stolen in a burglary in North Cornelly where a laptop and military medals were stolen.
The property has been returned to the victim, a man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of burglary offences and are currently on police bail.
DS Julian Kerslake said: “It’s always a pleasure to return property to victim. We know that burglary has a huge impact on victims through not only having valuable and often sentimental items stolen from them, but also because someone has actually been on their property and often within their home. We will continue to pursue burglars and bring them to justice”.
South Wales Police is urging anyone with any information in relation to drug use and supply, or about burglaries in Maesteg to get in touch on 101. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information.
