A Denbighshire village community shop opened less than 12 months ago has been awarded a prestigious rural business award.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar was delighted to see Siop Pwllglas, near Ruthin, receive a Bronze in the Countryside Alliance Awards held in the Senedd this week.
Nicknamed “The Rural Oscars”, the Countryside Alliance annual awards are the leading rural business awards to win. Operating across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland they celebrate the very best of rural produce and community.
Darren who officially opened Siop Pwllglas in May last year said:
“This is an incredible achievement for Siop Pwllglas considering that it only opened 10 months ago. Since that time it has been thriving and has really become the heart of the local community.
“I am delighted that the Countryside Alliance have recognised the efforts of all the volunteers involved in this project and the fantastic work they are doing in championing quality local produce and providing an outlet for local producers, as well as providing a meeting place and information point for residents.
“I would like to congratulate Siop Pwllglas on their award and wish them continued success for the future.”
