The closing date for the 2011 Rhys Davies Short Story Competition is fast approaching. The competition will be judged by award-winning writers Trezza Azzopardi, Russell Celyn Jones and Siân Preece.
First prize is a massive £1,000, with a further ten equal runner-up prizes of £100 also available. 2011 will also see Literature Wales’ continued partnership with BBC Radio Wales which will record three of the prize-winning stories for broadcast.
However time is running out, there are now only a few weeks left until the closing date on Friday 22 July 2011. So, if you think you have what it takes to win £1,000 for a piece of short fiction then send in your entry now.
The competition is open to all writers born in or currently living in Wales. Entries will be accepted provided that they are in English, they have not previously been broadcast or published, they are not translations of another author’s work and the story is original and entirely the entrant’s own work. Short stories may be submitted on any subject but they must be no more than 2,500 words in length. Entry fee is £6.00 per story.
