A prestigious calendar starring two leading North Wales firms is already proving a hit.
Ifor Williams Trailers and Williams Haulage feature in the glossy 2012 calendar of truck makers Scania which has just come out.
The high production values put it in the same league as the famous one from Pirelli – minus the scantily clad young women.
The image for September shows a Scania lorry belonging to Williams Haulage with a load of horseboxes from Ifor Williams Trailers, Europe’s biggest trailer manufacturer.
The UK calendar was shot by the internationally renowned photographer, Bryan Winstanley, on a the bleak but beautiful Berwyn Mountains.
The location was just a few miles from where both companies are based in Cynwyd, near Corwen.
Huw Williams, the Operations Director of Williams Haulage, was at the wheel of one of their brand new Scania trucks for the shoot.
Appropriately, Williams Haulage will be celebrating their 40th anniversary next year.
Their 25 vehicles travel a total of three million miles every year and they also manage the global distribution for Ifor Williams Trailers.
That’s a big job because the trailer firm has distributors across mainland Europe and as far afield as Australia and New Zealand.
Darron Royall, the Group Purchasing and Materials Manager of Ifor Williams Trailers, was delighted with the completed calendar.
He said: “The black and white image has a dash of colour in the horseboxes being transported, which provides an interesting visual twist.
“It has been taken against the backdrop of rugged terrain and a moody sky – it’s a dramatic and powerful picture
“Logistics is a huge part of important part of Ifor Williams Trailers with our trailers going all over the world.
“To be included in a calendar like this along with Williams Haulage is an excellent accolade. We were very pleased to be part of the project.”
Huw Williams was equally pleased with the outcome. He said: “We have a great relationship with both Ifor Williams Trailers and Scania and the calendar is the perfect way of portraying our much-valued partnership.
“Bryan is a very talented photographer and a perfectionist but I must say the end result is absolutely magnificent. I can’t wait until September!”
Williams Haulage buy their Scania lorries from Deeside Truck Services, based in Alltami, near Mold, and their Area Manager, Emma Jacobs, helped out during the shoot.
She said: “A huge amount of planning and effort went into the calendar but it was definitely worth it. The 2012 calendar is fabulous.”
