Denbighshire County Council is the best performing council in Wales, according to statistics recently issued by the Local Government Data Unit.
The performance of all councils in Wales is judged against national indicators based on a broad range of council services. Of the 146 indicators, Denbighshire performed in the top quarter of authorities in Wales for 67 (46%) of them, with Denbighshire being the authority with the most indicators in the top quarter.
This is the second year running for Denbighshire’s performance to be the best in Wales.
Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans, said: “This is tremendous news for Denbighshire and reflects the amount of hard work going on to improve services for the county’s residents and those who visit the area.
“Being the best performing council in Wales, as reflected in these statistics, has always been Denbighshire’s ambition. This is something that councillors and staff have signed up to and the council has challenged all its services to become more efficient whilst making the best use of resources available.
Mohammed Mehmet, Denbighshire’s Chief Executive, said: “I would like to congratulate councillors and staff on this achievement. The council is very much a forward thinking council that is striving for excellence in all areas of our work.
“The council has clear priorities and aims to become closer to the community, whilst continuing to be a high performing council. We will not become complacent and we will continue to work to the best of our abilities to become an even better council that continues to deliver high quality services.”
