Top Ten Library Books Revealed

If the top ten books borrowed from Cardiff Libraries is anything to go by, the city is full of super sleuths and would-be detectives.

A staggering six out of the ten books in the top ten most borrowed books in Cardiff are crime thrillers with Dan Brown topping the chart with The Lost Symbol a crime thriller set in Washington DC after the events of The Da Vinci Code.

The most borrowed books have been announced by Public Lending Right ahead of National Libraries Day which takes place on Saturday, February 4.

Other favourite genres in Cardiff were Fiction, Teen Horror and Historical Fiction.

The figures from the Public Lending Right show that Cardiff has very different tastes to the UK as a whole, with only three books featuring in both top tens, however Dan Brown’s popularity stretches across the whole of the UK topping both charts.

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “It appears that there are a lot of wannabe Miss Marples and Sherlock Holmes in Cardiff. It’s really interesting to see what books are the most borrowed in Cardiff and helps us to decide which books we need to invest in.”
