Cardiff Council will mark another milestone in the construction of the city’s new state-of-the-art homeless provision on Wednesday 21 March at 11am.
A special ‘Topping Out’ ceremony will take place to celebrate the final tile being placed on the roof of the £9.4m Single Assessment Centre based on Dumballs Road.
Cardiff Council’s Leader Cllr Rodney Berman and Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice Cllr Judith Woodman will attend the event, alongside Howard Gough Chair of Huggard, Hendre Ltd and representatives from Cowlin who constructed the building.

The centre will open in summer 2012.
Contractor Cowlin Construction were commissioned to build the state of the art centre which features three sedum roofs, various external finishes with gardens and an allotment.
Executive Member for Housing, Communities and Social Justice, Cllr Judith Woodman, said: “The new Single Assessment Centre will provide much needed homeless provision within the city. The new centre will really lead the way in providing cutting edge care and support for those who are vulnerable within our community.
“We and our project partners have made a huge investment and commitment into the centre and I would like to thank all our partners for their support in creating this landmark investment.
“It’s fantastic to see our vision come to life and I’m looking forward to seeing the centre open in the summer of 2012 and more importantly seeing it helping those who it has been created for.”
Richard Edwards, Chief Executive, Huggard, said: “’The topping out of this development brings our goal into sight of being able to make a real difference to many deeply excluded people. We will be providing the very best facilities for Homeless People in Cardiff. We look forward to realising the potential of this development this summer.’
