Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the announcement by the Westminster Government of a £50m fund which should give very sick cancer patients access to drugs sooner.
Commenting on the matter, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said: “Time and time again, I hear from people across the country both in my capacity as the Health spokesman and in my own constituency, who are having trouble accessing cancer medicines.
“I am pleased that the Westminster Government has taken this important step to ensuring that patients and clinicians have improved access to vital cancer drugs.
“This valuable additional resource will go a long way to achieving improved patient outcomes.
“I would urge the Assembly Government to look at introducing a similar scheme in Wales so cancer patients here are able to have access to medicines that they rightly deserve.”
