Tourist accommodation boost for Neath Port Talbot

A new Visit Wales 4 star B & B has opened in Neath Port Talbot.

The grade 2 listed barn located near Margam Country Park has been restored and converted to provide a 6 room B & B.

The owners Phillip and Barbara Brown offer a variety of accommodation, all of which are furnished to the highest standards. One of the rooms has been designed to suit the needs of disabled guests.

Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “The Council is committed to assisting local enterprises, such as this B & B, which is superbly located near many of our tourist attractions, including Margam Country Park, Afan Forest Park and Aberafan Seafront.

“We are delighted to be able to support such projects that help boost the economy and create local jobs”.

Mr and Mrs Brown are looking forward to welcoming their first guests and contributing to tourism development in Neath Port Talbot.  They said, “We would like to thank Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council for the funding support from the Accommodation Provider’s Grant and the valuable advice received from the Tourism and Grant Officers.”

A single investment fund grant is also expected from the Welsh Assembly Government.

The Accommodation Provider’s Grant is available for tourism business located within the rural areas of Neath Port Talbot and can provide funding assistance of up to £4,000 per project.
