Trading standards officers in Gwynedd are stepping up their efforts to ensure businesses stay on the right side of consumer law.
Gwynedd Council’s trading standards service wants to make sure local businesses and their staff are well-equipped with all the information they need about trading regulations.
The project is part of National Consumer Week, an annual event organised by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) which seeks to raise consumers’ awareness of a range of issues that impact on their daily lives.
This year’s event, which runs from 14 to 18 September, will highlight the need for businesses and consumers to know their rights and responsibilities.
Councillor J R Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Portfolio Leader for Public Protection said: “Our trading standards professionals work to educate and advise traders in Gwynedd so that they deal confidently and fairly with consumers.”
“The aim of National Consumer Week is to help traders stay on the right side of consumer law, which not only protects the interests of their customers but also promotes good business.
“The project links in with the ‘Know Your Rights Campaign’ by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) which is set to be launched during the week.”
