They’ve represented Wales at international festivals in Portugal and Canada and now a top folk group will soon be on hand to help celebrate St David’s Week in Swansea.
Carmarthenshire band Jac-y-Do will be performing in the city’s Brangwyn Hall on March 4 in a Twmpath event that will help people learn the fun of a traditional Welsh barn dance.
The group has been involved with over 1,400 performances over the years and their music and songs are a mix of traditional and modern Welsh with a little bit of Irish also thrown in.
Jac-y-Do are well-known in Welsh folk festivals including Pontardawe, the National Eisteddfod and the Royal Welsh Show.
Band member Dave Preece said: “Anyone who comes to this event can learn some new dance moves with the help of Jac Y Do and it’s sure to be a fun night of dancing with lots of laughs.
“It’s an event the whole family will enjoy and no experience is necessary.”
Swansea Council is behind St David’s Week.
Twmpath tickets are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/brangwynhall or from Swansea Tourist Information Centre on 01792 637000. They’re priced at £6 or £4 for concessions.
Many other events form part of a week of patriotic celebrations lasting from February 26 to March 6. They include concerts featuring Only Men Aloud, Morriston Orpheus Choir and hundreds of schoolchildren.
