Armed Forces Day, an annual opportunity for the nation to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, will take place in Cardiff on Saturday June 26.
A march will leave Cardiff Castle shortly before 11am and travel through High Street and St Mary Street on its way to Cardiff Bay, via Lloyd George Avenue.
People attending the start of this route, in the city centre, are advised to make use of public transport, including park and ride sites:
- Cardiff North, Maindy, 9am – 6pm £3 per car
- Cardiff East, Pentwyn, J33 M4 9am – 7pm £3 per car
- County Hall, A4232 9am – 6pm £3 per car
The services are accessible for the disabled, people with movement difficulties and wheelchair users, with dedicated parking adjacent to the bus pick-up. Low floor buses and raised kerbs at both pick-up and drop-off points will also be in use throughout the day.
City centre car parks will also be open.
People travelling to the Cardiff Bay area, where a number of events are taking place throughout the day, should follow signs to the area’s multi-storey car park. Overspill parking areas are also available in Pierhead Street.
Military coaches and their families will be dropped off at the southern end of King Edward VII Avenue and coaches will then return to Maindy Barracks.
To facilitate the military parade, a rolling road closure will be in place on High Street, St Mary Street, Callaghan Square and Lloyd George Avenue.

Bute Crescent, from 6am Thursday June 24, to 11pm Saturday June 26 (access allowed for residents & deliveries).
Bute Place from its junction with James Street/Bute Street, to its junction with Lloyd George Avenue, and Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Bute Place to its junction with Hemmingway Road, from 6am to 11pm June 26.
Bute Place East, from its junction with Lloyd George Avenue to its junction with Pierhead Street/Britannia Quay and Pierhead Street west of its junction with Caspian Way/Falcon Drive from 6am Friday June 25 to 11pm June 26.
Britannia Quay and Harbour Drive (south of its junction with Britannia Quay) from 6am Thursday June 24 to noon Monday June 28.
PAUL McCARTNEY CONCERT:
Sir Paul McCartney’s return to Wales at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium also takes place this Saturday.
Gates open at 4:30pm and park and ride sites can be accessed by following signs from Junction 33 of the M4. The service costs £10 per car.
The sites will open at 9am and close at midnight, with the last bus leaving pick-up points at 11:30pm.

Coach parking is available off Sophia Close. This service costs £10 per vehicle and full driver facilities are available on site.
