Pembrokeshire youngsters are taking part in an initiative to help them understand how politics work.
Pembrokeshire County Council is holding a series of events and elections to mark Local Democracy Week.
Local Democracy Week – October 11th to 17th – aims to promote democracy and raise electoral participation.
Among the events planned are elections at Portfield School in Haverfordwest and Greenhill School in Tenby, while youth organisations are also being urged to mark the week.
“The people who get voted in at elections make decisions that affect everyone from what is happening in local schools and sports facilities through national issues such as health care and education to global issues like the environment,” said Councillor John Davies, Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council.
“In our country it is everyone’s choice whether or not they want to vote but if people don’t vote their voice won’t be heard and they let other people make decisions for them.
“By organising events and promoting Local Democracy Week we aim to highlight the importance to young and old of taking part in decision making processes.”
