Efforts to attract more new business and inward investment to Anglesey are to be given a boost by satellite television.
Filming for a brand new 40-minute documentary by Executive Television will be taking place around the Island over the next few days. The documentary will showcase Anglesey, and other parts of the UK, as ideal locations for business growth.
The Inward Investment and Business Relocation series will be broadcast across the world on the BBC/ITV Freesat and Sky digital television networks and via live links from leading business websites.
The Island has been hit hard in recent months by the loss of a number of major employers, including Anglesey Aluminium and Eaton Electrical Ltd, both in Holyhead.
The new tv show forms part of the County Council’s continuing efforts to attract new jobs and investment as Head of Economic Development, Sasha Wynn Davies, explained, “The programme will help us showcase Anglesey as a location for business investment, growth and development. It will also help us provide company executives and directors throughout the UK with a unique insight into the importance of business investment to areas like Anglesey.”
She added, “We also see this collaboration with Executive Television as a means of providing the help and advice to company executives and senior management teams on a range of critical issues regarding business relocation.”
Filming will take place at a number of established businesses across the Island, including Stena, Rehau and French baker PV France, which recently relocated to the Bryn Cefni Business Park in Llangefni from Merseyside.
Economic portfolio holder, Councillor Bryan Owen, stressed, “Our main aim is to attract new inward investment from all parts of the world here to Anglesey. The Island has already proven itself to be an attractive base for new businesses. PV France was impressed by the Island’s excellent transport links, especially those to its markets in Ireland, as well as our high quality work force. These, and the many other unique selling points Anglesey offers, will all be highlighted in this new television programme.”
The programme will be promoted across the UK and Europe in national and regional media, both on and off line, as well as business media.
